Bigotry is alive and well in the Reform party. -Howard ===== A message from the 'bceniplc' discussion list ===== -- Victoria Times Colonist, p. A3, Judith Lavoie, 10/09/98 -- In a speech to 250 people in Qualicum Beach, Reform B.C. President Bill Vander Zalm warned British Columbians not to underestimate the negotiating powers of natives. He predicted that treaties such as Nisga'a will reduce B.C. to a poverty-stricken territory, and wants the Nisga'a treaty to go to a province-wide referendum. Vander Zalm also recommended that Quebec should be given everything it asks for and then be told to stand on its own two feet. He accused the NDP and Liberals of social engineering and hit out at drug epidemics, sex education in the classroom and gambling. He claimed that only an economic revolution will save B.C. and suggested provincial income tax be eliminated. |
