WATER TURBIDITY
Turbidity is a measure of fine particles of silt and organic matter in
drinking water which can cause gastrointestinal ailments. When water
originating from the GVRD watershed has a turbidity reading over 1.0,
more chlorine disinfectant is used.
Chlorine can combine
with organic material in water to create trihalomethanes which have been
linked to miscarriages and cancer.
