Water Quality Advisory for February 26, 2002

Turbidity Readings - Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) Reservoirs:

Capilano (N/A) / Seymour 0.62 / Coquitlam 1.1

WATER TURBIDITY
Turbidity is a measure of fine particles of silt and organic matter in drinking water which can cause gastrointestinal ailments. When water originating from the GVRD watershed has a turbidity reading over 1.0, more chlorine disinfectant is used.

Chlorine can combine with organic material in water to create trihalomethanes which have been linked to miscarriages and cancer.
