And BC Hydro said at the last project committee meeting that the cogen plant
down at the pulp mill, which is already approved, don't forget, would NOT be
constructed because they had no one to sell the power to. Yeah, right... and
pigs can fly.

===== FYI - could it really happen? I suppose this means they are forecasting
lower energy prices in the future. Nickie ....................... The Business
Examiner (business newspaper on Vancouver Island) August 2001 has the following
article: KTD of Spokane, Washington, has completed their pre-feasibility study
to build a $1.5 billion aluminium smelter in the Alberni Valley, and its
findings are favourable. The study concludes the area is a desirable location
for a smelter,which could employ 2,000 construction workers during a three-year
period, and as many as 650 employees when it is up and running. The smelter
could produce 360,000 tonnes of aluminium a year. David Krakoff, a KTD
principal, says it's now a question of finding investors for the project.
