Climate Change
Human activity has significantly altered the earth's natural climate system. Average global temperatures have increased by 0.5°C in the past 100 years, and scientists expect that temperatures will continue to rise at even faster rates.
Experts on global warming believe that greenhouse gases are largely to blame. The Earth's atmosphere is made up of different gases that help to trap the sun's heat-"greenhouse gases" - and without these gases, the planet's average temperature would be -18°C. But humans are producing more greenhouse gases than the planet can cope with, and it is upsetting our climate.
Consequences of climate change in British Columbia
Global warming at this rate could be disastrous for B.C., and could affect some of our valuable industries
