New Additional Hog Fuel Site

Area of proposed portable Hogger. The plan is to locate it
30 paces from the bank of the creek on the north side of Dry Creek on an old chip pile
bed. Heavy equipment working in the area generates a great deal of wood dust.
Ground level breezes in dry weather carry the dust to the creek.
The reason for locating a portable Hogger so close to the creek is one of convenience. It
is easily and cheaply tied into the conveyor located on the left side in the picture.
Locating the equipment and hoggable debris storage pile further away from the creek
would incur some cost. We believe the buffer zone between the Portable Hogger and
the creek to is inadequate.
A chip pile previously occupied this site. Assurance has been given that leachate
from this particular area is very weak and not harmful. However further to the west on the
other side of the conveyor, leachate appears to be damaging habitat area on the edge of
the harbor near the mouth of the creek. Is the source of that leachate the chip pile
bed? As yet the source has not been determined.
