Tire Burning - Radio Announcements

Pacifica Papers is test burning 40 tons per day of chipped rubber tires in their power boiler at the Mill. They hope to receive a permit to continue this burning permanently. Tire burning produces dioxins and other harmful substances which can have a direct impact on the health of people in this community. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, tire burning produces dioxins even in incinerators with good air pollution control equipment.
