APRIL 1
We're not fooled by genetically engineered food!
Yesterday, at a meeting of groups working on genetically engineered foods there was unanimous support for holding actions across the country April 1, 2000. Already, Plans are underway in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
I'm hoping Council chapters across the country will be able to organize in some way, no matter how large or small, on that day.
I'm also hoping that we can use this day to "turn up the heat" on Loblaws/Superstores.
For the Council, the goal is to have as many information pickets in front of Loblaws/Superstore outlets on that day as a local group can handle.
Next week I'll send out a more detailed message on action ideas, messages, logistics and other pertinent information.
In the meantime, however, please:
- Figure out if your chapter can get involved and let Laura know ASAP.
- Contact other groups in your area to see if they can get involved too.
If they already have plans, see if you can collaborate.
- Contact the local Labour Council. Tell them what you're thinking of doing, so the grocery store workers can do what they can to support us.
- Keep your eye out for further updates from the Ottawa office!
