Petition to Save Our Water

To: The Honourable Lloyd Asworthy and Sergio Marchi, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.


Dear Minister:

Whereas there is increasing pressure to trade water created by a growing global water crisis and corporations eager to profit from people's and wildlife's dependence on this essential necessity for all life.

Whereas trade rules dictate that once water is traded, Canadians lose control over their water forever.

Whereas Canada's water belongs collectively to the people and wildlife of Canada, not private corporations; and,
Whereas Exporting water will have devastating environmental effects;

I join with the Council of Canadians and thousands of other citizens in asking the government of Canada to enact legislation immediately to ban large-scale water exports.
