STATEMENT BY THE NATO SPOKESMAN



. Yesterday NATO aircraft carried out a successful attack against an army
barracks in Surdulica, Southern Yugoslavia.



. Any claim that NATO targets civilians is totally false. We take every
possible precaution to prevent harm to civilians. But unfortunately we
cannot completely exclude the possibility of harm to civilians, or to
civilian property, during a conflict such as this one.
